Brief History of our Organization

La Dignite's First Mission - Built a school in Jacmel, Haiti, and subsequently provided support to students, faculty, and administrators at selected schools throughout Haiti. (See Video)

Partnership with ODDSM - Provided support to the deaf, mute, and physically disabled community in Lilavois, Haiti. La Dignite partnered with ODDSM (Organization for the Rights of the Deaf and Mute), a registered non-profit in Haiti that advances the rights and economic self-agency of the deaf and mute who are largely shunned by their communities and thus live invisible lives.

ODDSM's entrepreneurial initiatives provide an opportunity for the deaf, mute, and physically disabled community to become self-sufficient. La Dignite's goal was to strengthen and expand these important initiatives.

Scholarship Fund - In partnership with Mount Ida College in Newton, MA, awarded scholarships to full-time undergraduate students of Caribbean or African descent with financial need who demonstrated leadership within their communities while maintaining academic excellence.

Partnership with NOCC and CRCC - In partnership with the National Organization for Career Credentialing (NOCC), and the Career Readiness Certificate Consortium (CRCC), supported capacity building and workforce development projects in Africa.

Activities included: advisement on the creation, implementation, and improvement of career credentialing systems to employers, policymakers, economic developers, workforce development practitioners, career seekers, and educators in Africa.

After-School Computer Training - In partnership with Progressive Learning Center and After-School Program in Saint Albans, NY, laid the foundation for computer-training opportunities for community youth and young adults.

IPEFOCA Elementary School, Les Anglais, Haiti - Committed to providing assistance for the restoration and improvement of IPEFOCA (INSTITUT PEDAGOGIQUE DE FORMATION DE CADRE DE), an elementary school in Les Anglais, Haiti, including school supplies and other support for individual students, teachers, and school administrators.

Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect - Dedication to helping victims of child abuse, neglect and exploitation in keeping with La Dignite's holistic philosophy.

"We are very happy and proud to have your support for ODDSM. You have shown us that you care about us and our work to help our disabled community develop."

"Thank you so much for the La Dignite Education Scholarship. I really appreciate it, and it actually brought tears to my eyes. I come from a low-income family, and it is a struggle for me to stay in college. Because of your help, my tuition will be easier for me to pay this year. Thank you again, my family and I are truly grateful."
